Jatta Museum
Before leaving Ruvo we stopped to have a look around the National Archaeological Museum ‘Jatta’ which is set up in the halls of the neoclassical Palazzo Jatta, in the heart of Ruvo di Puglia. The rich collection has artefacts by the most renowned Apulian and Greek potters. In the first room are showcased terracotta pieces with human figures and architectural motifs. Daunian Trozzella vases and black glazed ware. The second room has a large vase decorated with masks, and artwork by the painter from Baltimora. In the Rhita rooms are pictures with zoomorphic motifs, whilst the last exhibition space is dominated by the most important vase of the collection, the Attic red figure vase decorated by the painter Talos, dating back to the 5th Century BC. Since our visit in 2016 the museum has been refurbished in 2022. On leaving the museum we headed back to the coach for our onward journey to Trani and our Hotel San Paolo for our next two nights.
