Kenya Flora

There are in the region of 12,500 different recorded species in Eastern Africa, all of them like everywhere else influenced by the weather and climatic conditions.

The Acacia Tree for which the Kenyan National Parks are reknown thrive on drought conditions. There are around 40 different varieties within the parks. Due to the dry terrain, forestry only occupy around 2% of the land mass. The vast majority of the area is covered in dried grasses and savanna grassland.

The majority of the fauna I spotted was was recorded around the lodges where we stayed, other that the Acacuia Tree and certain varieties of Cacti which were noted in most of the Parks whilst on the game drives.
