The port town of Javea sits in the shadow of Montgo Mountain between Valencia and Alicante. 

Javea has 2 Blue Flag beaches. La Grava, a pebbly beach preferred by the locals, it is lined with tapas restaurants along the promenade. The boardwalk stretches for 3 kilometres south to Arenal Bay, Javea’s second Blue Flag beach.  This is a lovely sandy beach very popular with small families as the water stays shallow for a long way out. There are plenty of bars and restaurants along the promenade to have a drink or snack, you get lovely views of Montgo mountain although when we visited the mountain was shrouded in mist!.
