Red deer are a prominent feature on Arran, with sightings reported across all wooded areas of the island. The Brodick Castle Woods, North Sannox Wood, and Glenashdale Forest are particularly known for their red deer populations. Visitors to Lochranza distillery can also witness the majestic red deer up close. We spent a very enjoyable fortnight on the island in 2006 and spent many days looking for them to no avail, only to drive up to Lochranza where a large herd had taken over one of the teeing areas on the golf course!
