Pirnmill
I can remember quite vividly coming to Arran in the early 60’s with my parents and my brother, and spending a week’s holiday in a small hotel/guest house in the tiny hamlet of Pirnmill called 'The Anvil Tearooms', (Now the Lighthouse Restaurant) on the west coast of the island. This was my first of many visits to the island such was the effect this island had on me personally. Next door to the were we stayed was the village Post office and village store. I can remember my parents hiring a small boat and going out on daily fishing trips from the small jetty on the opposite side of the road.
