The Northern Fells
I was very fortunate in 1978 to spend a very enjoyable week on Arran with members of our works Rambling Club, to climb the Northern Fells on the island. The Northern part of the island is more mountainous than the Southern part of the island. The most prominent mountain being Goat Fell at 2866ft. Throughout the week we also climbed Beinn Nuis 2597ft, Beinn Tarsuinn 2708 ft, Beinn A’Chiliabhain 2214 ft, A Chir 2444ft, Cir Mhor 2618 ft, Caisteal Abhail 2778 ft, Mullach Buidhe 2719 ft, and Am Binnein 2181 ft. The Sleeping Warrior is a profile within these mountains, as seen from the North Ayrshire coast and also can be seen along the String road on Arran itself.
