Buttery Collbia (Rhodocollybia butyracea)
A species of fungus belonging to the family Omphalotaceae. It is characterized by its convex to flat cap, which ranges in colour from pale yellow to golden brown, and its creamy white gills, which darken with age. The stem is slender, fibrous, and often covered with fine hairs or scales. This mushroom is widely distributed across temperate regions of Europe where it grows in deciduous or coniferous forests, often forming symbiotic relationships with tree roots. It can be found in our woodland between late September through till early December.
